mIRC Description

mIRC is a popular Windows based Internet chat relay client which allows users to communicate, share files, play games or work with other members from around the world on IRC networks via private one-to-one connections or multi-user groups through different servers. mIRC is user friendly, supports file transfers and is fully configurable.
mIRC was created in 1995 to improve on earlier types of IRC clients which developers felt lacked basic IRC features. These extra features included ability to share files, customizable UI and improved scripting to improve the way the client behaves. Over the years user input has contributed to improve the mIRC client with users wanting support for multiple server connections and a change to the way channels and notify lists are displayed, with a treebar format preferred over the default switchbar.
For compatibility - OldVersion.com advises mIRC 6.35 and earlier versions for Windows 95/NT 4.0/98/ME. Later than 6.35 are compatible with Windows 2000 OS and later.
General consensus says that from v6.2+ are most stable, secure and the fastest versions of the mIRC client, 6.xx works great with PCs running older Windows operating systems.
Old versions of mIRC are still functional but are no longer supported with technical or security updates.

  New commands and identifiers:
  
  $cid - returns server connection id for current script
  $wid - returns window id for current script
  $status - returns server connection status. Also returnsclosing during the on disconnect event if thestatus window being closed is the cause of thedisconnection.
  $activecid, and $lactivecid.
  $scid(N)[.command], where N is a $cid value
  $scon(N)[.command], where N is the Nth connection
  If N = 0, returns total number of open status windows.
  You can also specify a property which is a command nameand it will be called using that server connection.
  /scid [command], where N is a $cid value
  /scon [command], where N is the Nth connection
  If you specify a command, the connection id is set only forthat command. The -r switch resets the connection id to theoriginal id for that script.
  The -a and -tM switches can only be used if you specify acommand.
  
  -a - perform the command on all connection ids.
  -tM - where M is an or'd value of 1 = server connected,2 = not connected, 4 = connecting, 8 = not connecting.The command is only performed if N matches the connectstatus of the connection id.
  
  Note: if you use a command that contains $identifiers, andyou want the identifiers to be evaluated in the targetconnection, you must pass them as $!identifier to preventthem from being evaulated first in the current connection.
  
  Also added new properties to $window():
  .type - returns window type name
  And to $query(), $window(), $chat(), $send(), $get(), $chan(),and $timer():
  .cid - server connection id
  .wid - window id
  .hwnd - window handle
  Added /server -mn switches, where -m creates a new server windowand connects, -n creates new server window without connecting.
  Misc. notes:
  Windows whose server connection has been closed are placedat the end of the switchbar list. This includes things likedcc send/get/chat, and custom windows.
  Everything in mIRC now has a unique id number, all windows,server connections, dcc sends/get/chats, etc.
  The tray icon displays the animation for the current activeserver connection, same goes for the Connect toolbar button,and File menu.
  Each server connection has it's own /play list, and the playdialog shows the play list for the current active connection.
  URLs list Send To menu, and Tray popup menu, show the networkand nickname for each status window.

-i - makes a @window dynamically associate with the currentlyactive connection. You can use $window().anysc to checkif this setting is active.
-v - closes window when associated status window is closedThe on close event is triggered for the window.
If this switch isn't used and the status window isclosed, the @window is moved to the end of the switchbar,and is associated with the first available status window.
-z - places window button at end of switchbar
